All Hallows Eve

Today is a good day, after all, my costume entails my two favorite colors, pink and sparkle {but more on that later} and we get to consume ridiculous amounts of sugar.

In honor and celebration of that ridiculous amount of sugar, I thought  would share a little treat with you! You have heard of scratch and sniff, right? Well! Here is a lick and taste!

Go ahead and give it a try and tell me what flavor you think it is!

If you were to guess grape, sour apple and mango ... you'd be crazy! Because that meant you actually licked your computer screen!

Since I can't actually share candy with you, how about some fun candy facts before you or your little ones stock up tonight?

Fact.

+ Americans purchase nearly 600 million pounds of candy for Halloween every year.

+ Reeses Peanut Buttercups are currently the most popular candy in the US .

+ However, the same cannot be said in Australia and New Zealand; Aussies and Kiwis think peanut butter is gross, especially with chocolate.

+ If you swallow gum it does not stay in your stomach for years. It passes normally.

+ Cotton candy, which is notoriously known to be bad for your teeth, was co-invented by a dentist!

+ 3 Musketeers was named that because it used to come with three divided pieces. They were vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. Rising costs during the war resulted in only the most popular nougat {chocolate} being produced, which hasn't changed since.

+ Milk duds are actually just that, duds. The manufacturer wanted perfectly round balls and the ones that weren't were called duds.

+ The candy forest scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory were actually edible.

+ Snickers is the all-time favorite candy bar in the world! And, the candy bar was named after Frank Mars {as in Mars candy bars} favorite horse.

+ The average German eats twice as much chocolate as the average American annually. Folks, we need to catch up!! ;)

+ The state of Colorado Googled searched for organic candy the most. Oregon searched most for gluten-free candy and Kentucky the most for sugar-free. Note to self, never Trick or Treat in any of those states!

+ The average American family spends $44 dollars annually on Halloween candy.

+ And last but not least, it takes 364 licks to get to the center of a Toostie Pop!

And before I bid my final adieu, I have brought back this old gem from Halloween past. Take a look, I promise you won't be disappointed. :)

Happy Halloween!

Please stay.

Oh, autumn.

Please stay a while longer.

Maybe, just ... forever.

Unbelievable, actually.

Last year at work, a group of us decided to collaborate with Halloween costumes. It was a smash.

I mean, obvi. We look awesome

This year, we decided costume collaboration was the only way to go.

I chose something that suited me quite well. And I was thrilled.

Until my costume arrived and the company had sent the wrong one.

So, I ordered a second costume from a second company.

Imagine my excitement when it arrived! Just to open it and see that it was the same wrong costume the first company sent me!

Enter third company. Ordered my costume. And only after I ordered it did they tell me it was coming from China and would arrive on ... drum roll please, November 1st.

Canceled that order, quite frantically.

And finally, ordered the costume from a fourth company. I even sent them an email, pleading to them to send me the right costume, telling them that the other two companies had both sent me the same wrong costume!

Their response, "We assure you that we will send you the correct costume."

Guess what, guys? It arrived today.

AND ... IT WAS THE SAME WRONG COSTUME THE OTHER TWO COMPANIES HAD SENT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mind.blown.

BUT! Don't cry for me Argentina! I found a costume rental place here in town that is no longer renting costumes, instead they are selling them for relatively cheap. And they had the costume I needed.

Sigh.

P.S. While I won't tell you what my costume is right now, here is a hint ... it's what Pepto-Bismol and Cotton Candy would look like if they had a baby.

I sure hope this works out alright! :|

Wish me luck!

So, uh ... I made dinner.

Something shocking happened last weekend.

Shocking, I say!

Brace yourself for this one, folks. You might want to be sitting down.

I ... made dinner {with Claire, obvi}.

BUT! My point is this, it is a dinner so easy that I could have made it without Claire or anyone else. I know, I know. That doesn't seem right. But it is true!

Confession: it is a Pinterest recipe, so you have probably seen it before. Heck, you have probably made it before and here I am, like, a year later trying to "share" it with you.

Whatevs. Pretend this is exciting, because it was for me, okay?

P.P.S. I am not on Pinterest. I just "hear" about things on it.

P.P.P.S. If you are interested in seeing some of my other fabulous recipes go here and here. I think you will be glad you did.

Facebook Finds Friday | Week 20

I am not entirely sure why I put which week of FB Finds Friday this is. Strike that. I don't know why at all. I think I will stop. Soon.

P.S. I should be doing homework. But don't tell anyone, because I am not. And I actually don't have any intention of doing so.

So ... which is your favorite?

I think mine might be the FB shower stalker one or the Persian kitty. :)

Enjoy!

Best.Day.Ever.

Sneak Peek!

Remember how I moved into #octoberhouse and my bedroom walls were mint?

Not as in you could lick them and freshen your breath, rather the color.

All of my bedrooms since I have moved out of my parents' have been neutral colors, which allowed me to choose freely what colors I wanted my bedroom scheme to be.

However, mint kinda "ruined" that for me. I say "ruin" because while I will have to entirely re-amp my bedroom decor, mint is a) adorbs and b) super in right now. So, I am okay with it.

Plus, I have found some super cute stuff.

Here, my friends, is a sneak peak of what my bedroom is going to look like.

Kinda in love with it.

Let's just hope it turns out the way I envision it in my head, because we all know sometimes things exist in my head and no where else. ;)

Now, if only ALL the things would get here and I could finish. My patience is wearing thin. Strike that, I never had patience for this in the first place. I just want things to look the way I want them to look NOW. Strike that. I just want things to look the way I want them to look YESTERDAY. :)

P.S. Just in case you forgot, today is Thursday, which means tomorrow is FRIDAY. Oh, praise the heavens for such a blessed event!

I'm an adult. On some days.

I remember the first time I felt like an adult.

It was when I stayed in a hotel alone for the first time. I was 25-years-old.

The second time I felt like an adult? When I bought a vacuum that same year. What can I say? 25 was clearly a big year for me. Yet, buying furniture has done nothing for me as far as the adult status goes.

Driving a Uhaul in a blizzard also made me feel like an adult.

And most recently, buying a microwave, which is clearly different than just having one in the home/apartment you are renting.

Turning 18, moving out for the first time, staying home alone at my parents' house while in high school and they were on vacation {I clearly had to stay home so I could run}, none of those things made me feel like an adult.

Maybe if I had gotten married I would feel like I had successfully reached adult-stage permanently. Or maybe if I birthed a child?

What about you? What has made you feel like an adult?

And to think, this post seriously exists just because I bought a microwave off of KSL classifieds. Now only if they had an adorbs white coffee table!

It's Love.

Hi, friends.

I am pretty much in love ... and who wouldn't be?

Pink and sparkly {my two favorite colors} Toms at an outrageously fantastic discounted price? Count me in.

I am pretty sure I am going to be buried in these.

That's okay to think about what you are going to be buried in, right?

P.S. I have a visitor here today. I think she is pretty adorable and I think you will feel the same. Plus, she uses braces {} opposed to parenthesis ( ), which I clearly support entirely. :)

Well, hey there! I’m Erica and I blog over at Sincerely, Erica Michelle. I was so excited when Mindy asked me to guest post!

I call a beautiful town near the Colorado Rocky Mountains my home, but I’m currently attending my first year of college at Brigham Young University in Utah. My goals include studying abroad in London next year {cross your fingers that I get accepted!}, successfully making peanut butter fudge, and owning a throw pillow with a map on it. I love stargazing, photography, and playing violin. I've read The Great Gatsby something like 14 times in the last 5 months, and still love it. It’s rare to find me not listening to music. What I dislike most about college is the fact that I’m 200 miles away from my sewing machine and my mama’s cooking… but other than that, the last 2 months at college have been everything I hoped for!

When your brain lies to you ...

Thus far, October could be described best by two words: homework and unpacking.

Last last Saturday I finally finished my class and was provided a minor Fall Break. I used that small amount of time off from school to work on the house ... as in decorating, not as in maintenance or home improvement.

I had a list of 20 some odd things and hit the town. Now, let me tell you, these things were not out there crazy things. We are talking day-to-day things liiike a bedskirt, a pink bath mat annnnd a wrapping paper organizer.

And let me tell you, after going to six stores and coming out of all of them not having purchased a single item, I wanted to give up on life. But then my brain so logically reminded me that internet has everything.

12 days later and I still don't have the majority of the things off the list.

I.hate.it.when.my.brain.lies.to.me. Clearly, the internet doesn't have everything. And then I am still left wanting to give up on my life.

But who ever gave up on life for a bedskirt or a wrapping paper organizer? I could be the first.

I am not entirely sure why this post even exists today. Maybe to point out that things exist in my head but clearly not in life. Yeah, I think that's it.

That's all.

Happy Monday!

And guess what? It's a food blog. And we know how I love me some food.

I actually have a goal to make the goodness she is sharing with us today. And naturally, I will let y'all know how it goes. Let me know if you try it too. :)

She talks about cake, a lot, who wouldn't love that?

My name is Neja, a Slovenian girl behind the blog You CAN have your cake and eat it too

I am a girl who can turn wearing an apron into something cool. Food is my passion. I love to eat it, talk about it, photograph it! I cry when the recipe doesn't work! I am a passionate rambler, out loud thinker and a seeker of positive, beautiful things. I believe you CAN have your cake & eat it too!

The blog: I explore and try out recipes from other blogs, cooking sites and cooking books. My blog is mainly about food, but that's not all. I have a category named Neja's Milkshake, where I share my thoughts, videos, pics from trips and everything that's beautiful and positive.

Veggie Burgers with Sweet Potatoes

Ingredients

400 g white beans
1 sweet potato
Onion
Spinach
Avocado
1/4 cup Wholemeal flour
Crumbs
Whole grain bun
Cayenne pepper
1 tsp of agave syrup

The Process

1. Bake sweet potato (200°C 40 min). Peel, place in large mixing bowl.
2. Add beans to mixing bowl. Mash beans and potato together.
3. Mash in cayenne pepper, agave syrup, flour and any additional seasoning. Your mixture
will be quite soft and moist. But you should be able to form a patty. Add more flour or a
scoop of breadcrumbs.
4. Heat oil in the pan.
5. Form a patty from mixture and coat in crumbs. Thick coating. Then drop the patty in the
pan. Repeat until the pan is filled. Cook until browned on both sides.
6. Transfer cooked patties to paper towel to soak oil.
7. Serve on bun, add spinach, onion, avocado and add a few drops of olive oil to avocado.

Mindy the Mormon | #ldsconf

My name is Mindy. And I am a Mormon.

But I don't think that is news to anyone. :)

Twice annually, our Church gathers to listen to a prophet's voice. Yup, just as in biblical times of old when people would listen to prophets, we still do today.

We do this primarily at an event called General Conference

General Conference is where spirits are rejuvenated and peace is brought to your souls. It is a time when you are reminded of God's love for you. That He hears you and provides answers to your heart and mind.

One of my favorite things about conference this year was the memes that people made. I liked them so much I collected them all together. And am sharing them with you!

I do not recall all of the sources to which I acquired these. If any of them are yours, let me know and I will be certain to give you credit. Although I do know Elise and Nichelle did do some.

I know President Uctdorf's quote about doubt and faith was probably the most popular. I mean, you get to decide which meme you like the mostest. ;)

Which is your favorite?
