In a rut, I yodel.

That's what you get when you rearrange the letters in the phrase "daily routine." Coincidence? I think not.

AND! I spent two hours in traffic court today just observing. And suddenly, my awesome life seems even more awesome than it did prior to attending my traffic court observation.

How was your Wednesday?

Lastly, even if you can only donate a dollar or two, it will help. Click on the photo below for details!

King of the Mountain!

We got a heckovalotof snow over the weekend.

And, naturally, I became KING of the mountain of heckovalotof snow.

Mainly because I am pretty sure I am not only the first person, but the only person to climb it.

And I know ... it should say queen. But, let's be honest. King sounds more powerful.

After conquering the mountain, I had a strong desire to make an igloo out of it.

But that might be an adventure for another day.

P.S. Apparently, I get super excited to put on gloves.

What have you done with your snow?

And if you haven't yet, please click on the photo below. :)

Three years ago I moved into an adorable house.

The only draw back of moving into the adorable little house was that it nearly doubled my commute to work.

And, it has been rough.

Leaving me looking at ... oh, a seven minute commute to work one way, every day!

But that is not all! Yesterday those seven minutes probably doubled {or tripled}.

Yet, I s'pose it could be worse. At least I didn't end up like these peeps.

Oops? I guess that's what freezing rain will do to ya.

Speaking of freezing rain, I wrote a Facebook status that said, "Freezing rain is awesome, said no one ever."

Roommate Claire said, "I think it's pretty cool." WHICH, if you noticed, isn't her saying it is awesome.

And another acquaintance said, "I actually did say it today. Sorry."

Now, if she wasn't such a sassafrass, I may have disregarded her comment entirely. Buuuut, because she is a sassafrass, I didn't. I thought, "Well, that is probably because you did not see or hear of the destruction it caused." Cars spinning out of control, losing control, ending up with their top sides down, being carried off in ambulances. Nor did she hear the heavy stream of medical personnel heading to the canyon yesterday morning.

That is SO awesome. Isn't it? :|

Wow. Here I thought I was going to talk about my rough seven minute commute and ended up somewhere entirely different.

Here's hopin' for a more AWESOME day, which includes safer travels ... errr at least back to my treacherous seven minute commute.

Where were you?

10 years ago I was ...

I was just ending my running career at Utah State from extensive injuries {stress fracture, Achilles tendinitis  plantar fasciitis, IT-band syndrome and shin splints all in one leg}.

I had just switched my major from Physical Education to English {but don't be fooled, it would be changed two more times before I graduated}.

I had just moved into Oakridge 15A, my first time moving out of my parents' house {I really didn't have a choice. One day they sold the house and they told me until they moved into their new house, I didn't have anywhere to live ... BUT! Because they are super cool, they decided to pay for my rent that year because they had unexpectedly kicked me out!}

I held weekly Chocolate Milk Nights at my apartment.

I was serving in the Stake Relief Society Presidency as the second counselor after having been released as Relief Society President.

I was hired on to be an EFY counselor for the next summer!

Five years ago I was ...

Beginning my employment at my current job as a behaviorist for people with intellectual disabilities after teaching seminary for two years.

My grandma passed away {three days after starting my new job}.

I was already involved in my campaigning for Mitt Romney for the 2008 election.

I lived in an apartment with two girls who were obsessed with John Deere. I was the last one to move in to an already decorated apartment. The kitchen was decked out in all-things John Deere. And the center focal point ... a sign that said, "She thinks my tractor is sexy." Oh.my.word. I have photos if requested.

I started this blog!

Taking out my very first loan ever {and only one to date} to purchase Wilson!!

I met someone who would change my life forever.

Two years ago I was ...

Still working at my current job. :)

Serving as Relief Society President for the third time. I kept thinking if I would finally get it right they would stop calling me. :) {I have been released for eight months and so far, so good! ;)}

I was introduced to witch doctor for the first time. Yay!

Pouting that my brother and sister-in-law were moving six whole hours away to St. George, Utah. But let's not fool ourselves ... when I drive, it's more like five. :)

I was spending the last days with that person who changed my life forever ... although, I didn't know they would be the last days I would ever spend with him. Never would have imagined it actually.

Today I am ...

Still working as a behaviorist for people with intellectual disabilities - and I still adore it!

Getting ready to move into a new office at work! It is completely in a corner and isolated .... BUT! I got to decide what colors to pain the walls! Pink was approved ... but not my final decision. :)

Just made a BIG decision in my life - one I never saw myself making!

Less than five payments away from paying off the Wilson loan. This makes me feel successful. Haha. :)

Thrilled that one of my running buddies has moved back to Logan!

Struggling to maintain hope a little more every day. But still fighting for it ... even if truly never does come.

Still suffering from extremely dry skin on my hands from making cake balls for my co-workers a month ago! I had to wash my hands so many blimey times and they haven't looked the same since. :( I never have try hands so this is ... weird. And displeasing.

Using a heating pad to stay warm ... I should really invest in a heated blanket. Or turn my living room into a hot tub.

P.S. Stole this idea from the adorable Chelsea

December | Instagram

I resoluted to take more photos in December of the ins and outs of my daily life.

And I think I was quite successful.

Unfortunately, more than halfway through January, I am not doing so hot. I think I have taken approximately seven photos.

I guess I can re-resolute, no?

December was a busy month.

Trip to Boise {which I have failed to blog about ... once I do, you will see why I have delayed so long}.

Roommate Christmas in Salt Lake City.

A second trip to Salt Lake City for New Years Eve.

Building an epic fort {a how-to is coming}.

Taking down Christmas.

Running. Lots. Love that.

Claire graduating.

Jilly graduating.

FRIGID temperatures.

Almost two full weeks off from work!

Aggie basketball in full swing.

My first time going to a BAR.

And drinking hot chocolate like it is nobody's business. Actually, still doing that.

December was a good month. And it feels so long ago.

I better get going on my January Instagrams.

Do you Instagram? Leave a link and I will follow you! :)

I stole this from somewhere. Naturally.

Words to live by in all aspects of life. Thank you, Dr. King.

How are you going to choose LOVE over hate?

Creative Liberties

Tonight, as I ate my Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie ice cream, I couldn't help but notice the USU Men's Basketball team staring back at me. Via poster {as they rarely come into my kitchen}.

I also couldn't help but realize that the team watching me eat my ice cream wasn't quite representative of what the team looked like this weekend.

So, naturally, I took liberties to update the poster a bit to make it more consistent with what our team currently looks like.

The front three are starters.

One word: OUCH.

Two of which were injured in their Thursday game.

And unable to play Saturday due to said injuries.

Tomorrow we find out the extent of their injuries.

And "almost died" kid. He really did. Almost die, that is. Actually, he technically wasn't breathing nor did he have a heart beat, so ... he did die.

Here's hoping to quick recoveries to all of them from Aggie Nation! And don't worry, I will keep all of you {and whomever comes into my kitchen} updated on their health statuses via poster and pink X's. :)

{And the other with X's? I don't know what you are talking about ...}

Water Boy

Nephew Two had the chance to be a water boy the other night at the Utah State University basketball game.

{He's on the left, his friend is on the right.} He's pretty darn cute if I do say so myself ... and I do!

He ended up being the water boy for the opposing team, San Jose State.

They were very polite as they thanked him for the water.

And in doing so, called him "little man" at least 11 times.

Yup. He counted.

Fortunately, he didn't count the number of times that they swore. :)

Regardless, he had a convincingly wonderful time. So convincing, that I want to be a water boy.

I only see a couple minor details that need to be kinked out.

I will work on it.

Little Seester

Sometimes, ya just gotta let people know who is boss.

And, obviously, big seester is boss over little seester.

May have restrained her to get her there. And boy, did it feel good!

But don't feel too badly for her. After all, she is smiling.

Photo courtesy of Nephew Two. Isn't he just a peach?

Anyone else wanna play "Who's the Boss?" with me? It certainly is a fun game.

Let me know if there are any takers. ;)

Happy Wednesday, people! Halfway to the weekend!

Black Magic

It's been an interesting little bit.

Change that is good, yet bad.

Some people being careless with others' feelings and emotions.

Others listening but not feeling.

It's frustrating. Just in case you couldn't guess.

But you want to know what makes it better?

Yup. Voodoo.

It's paper voodoo. And you can actually draw in curse pins or blessing pins.

Thoughtful, right?

After you do your "pinning", to make the curse/blessing actually works, you have to BURN the paper voodoo.

So, far ... we haven't seen any results.

But it was worth a try. ;)

And it, surprisingly, made me feel a teeny-bit better.

Not a lot bit. But a teeny bit.

Which is better than no bit.

P.S. It is -13* outside.

I am not sure I am going to leave my house any time this week because of it.

AND!!! Rumor has it, Lance Armstrong is comin' clean with Oprah this week.

Looks like a most shocking moment for 2013 in the making, no???

That's all. :)

Mourning for Mitt : 30 Days of Black

On November 7, 2012 a dark cloud hung over my soul.

Something I had dedicated hours - and years - to did not come to fruition.

My heart literally hurt. I was mourning the loss of  something I desired with my entire heart.

To express my displeasure in what happened, I opted to wear black for 30 days {opposed to walking around all depressed for xx amount of days}.

And, naturally, I took photo documentation of it all. :)

So, here it is. My Mourning for Mitt: 30 Days of Black.

Enjoy. :)

I actually enjoyed being able to make a political statement simply by the color of clothing I was wearing.  And thanks to FB and this blog, most people in my life {who would see my clothing day-to-day} knew why.

But I must admit, it was quite enjoyable to wear other, brighter, HAPPIER colors after the 30 days.

After my stripes and then black, I cannot help but wonder what clothing challenges 2013 has in store for me. ;)

Any ideas?

P.S. If you haven't read my last post, please do. It is extremely important to me. Thanks a million! :)

Nephew One & YOU

We nearly lost him {and my sister} when he came into this world, two months premature.

His traumatic birth has left him with things he will struggle with for all of his life.

But he is fighter.

And his parents are too.

They continue to be diligent in doing all the things they can to help their son be successful in this life, even though he continues to struggle managing his behavior and keeping up in school {just to name a few things}.

One of the things that could benefit him most at this time is helping him succeed in school is assisted technology {an iPad specifically and Special Education apps that have been proven to help children with disabilities to bridge the learning gap between them and children without learning disabilities}.

My nephew's parents have searched for grants and scholarships to help pay for the assisted technology, but none are available at this time. This leaves the financial burden on their backs, yet again. A burden that already includes medical bills for his doctors, medications, etc., which can extend into the tens of thousands of dollars annually.

My brother-in-law has opened up an account at Smart Pig {a program that helps people set goals and create a systematic savings plan to reach the goals}. One of the great things about Smart Pig is that it can be public, allowing others to contribute if they wish.

Obviously, this cause is near and dear to my heart. And because it is, I am opening myself up to say we could use your generosity.  If you feel as though this is something you could contribute to, we would appreciate more than we can adequately express.

You can donate by clicking on the link provide in the post or by clicking on the "FEED ME" button on the adorable piggy bank in the right-hand column of the blog.

If you have any questions or concerns, I would be more than happy to answer.

And have a wonderful day. :)

And to the one who made me an aunt ...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY. I love you!

Here's the thing ...

I could blog.

Or go to bed at 9:20 PM.

I will take the latter.

I will blame it on my cold.

{Yup, sick. Again.}

Although, I am not gonna lie, I might go to bed at this time virus or not.

I am embracing senior citizen-ness.

Early dinner. Early bed.

It's a beautiful thing.

Goodnight, world. :)

NYE 2013

Welcoming in 2013 was ... the most obscure celebration.

An invitation to a NYE party by our waiter at California Pizza Kitchen.

His name was Moe.

Actually going to the address to have no one be there {he texted to explain though}.

Crammed on Trax.

Where we waited 15 minutes to go approximately 2.5 blocks.

Getting lost in a parking lot.

For, like, ever.

Meeting "The Captain" who was going to cruise us into 2013.

One word: creepy.

Sparkling things up with another photo shoot at Temple Square.

And bedazzled tops.

We saw some amazing fireworks.

While meeting up with some of our besties.

AND! We even wore cheesy crowns.

Just to wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hope it is a good one, folks. :)

101 Most Shocking Moments of 2012

I know we go over this annually ...

A. For anonymity purposes I sometimes refer to a person simply as he or she. Thus, not all the he's or she's are the same person. As well as, some things are very, very vague. Live with it. ;) But to make up for it, you will earn 10 gold stars for each one you read. {I know I have been a loser with gold stars this past year, I will be better with that. Promise.}

B. Also, 10 gold stars for each time you make the list or something on the list relates directly to you. Feel free to argue your case on how an item relates to you in the comment section provided below. :)

C. I tried to put each moment in its proper order, with the absolute most shocking moment as number one and so on ... But it gets really complicated ... and boring. So, top 10 are actually in exact order. The top 30 are in the general area of exactness. And 31-101 ... they are just on there somewhere. :)

D. I had a really difficult time not putting exclamation points at the end of all of these. :) Shocking moments deserve exclamation points, however, over-used exclamation points defeat the purpose of an exclamation point in the first place. :)
