Peace out, FB ...

I had to deactive my Facebook account this week.

Because I cannot hold my tongue.

For example, in Sunday School yesterday when the teacher asked, "Did anyone have any missionary moments this week?"

I responded with, "Well, JF did play basketball last night."

For anyone wondering, it will be reactivated when the idol worship mania is over.

Oops. Did I just do it again?

Case.in.point.

But besides this current post, I will hold my tongue here. So feel free to continue to stop by. :)

{But in all honesty, when people jokingly or not, replace the Lord's with his, everyone really has to start thinking about what is going on here.}

I agree, all this Jimmer mania is out of control and has gotten extremely annoying. Is it wrong that I am secretly hoping that he will get booted from the team for an honor code violation like that other guy? That would certainly be an interesting turn of events.

I can understand taking issue with replacing the Lord's name. I don't care for that either, but it seems like you've gotten yourself worked up unnecessarily. The guy is the likely NCAA player of the year; that in and of itself warrants and elicits A LOT of praise and recognition. Not to mention his story is a journalist's dream. I doubt I need to tell you what it is. Plus BYU made it to the Sweet 16 for the first time since '81 yesterday. There are a lot of reasons for the media and especially BYU fans to talk up JF. As I said, some of it is out of control and shows a lack of maturity (and probably other things as well) in BYU fans, but for the most part, I think there's good reason to have a high opinion of the guy and for there to be a lot of talk about him. I could go on, but this is supposed to be a comment and not a blog post itself.

It's one thing to have a high opinion of someone and something entirely different one to worship and idolize him. The only thing I can liken it to is preteen girls accepting Twilight as scripture and talking incessantly about it.

I think BYU should have a campus-wide showing of The Ten Commandments to show what happens when people worship a golden calf.

Can I get gold stars for our chat today? I mean...really? I'll let you wear my Aggie jacket for a full 10 minutes the next time I see you. With love, me. (The Aggie fan surrounded by Cougars. I still cheer them on. Double-layered. I think that should count for something.) :)

I will miss you on Facebook :) As for the gold stars, I'm doing better than some...but I need to do something really special to receive 2786 more stars. Suggestions? I may have to buy you the Olive Garden or something. As for the JF thing...I don't have much to say other than Doug got mad at me the other day because I didn't want to watch the game. I wanted to watch Family Feud instead. haha :)

ooooooohhhhhh. I get it now. Wow, took me a couple of hours, right? Thanks so much for esplaining. And I really don't think the BYU basketball team is doing good for the church as a missionary tool. In fact, think about Brandon! Come ON!! Kicked off for violating the honor code? SNL said a little somethin somethin about that during their "Weekend Update." Said that he got kicked off because he had premarital sex (who knows the truth)... and they made fun of him for that. So really???? The church getting some "good" face time in the media? I doubt that. I REALLY doubt that. OH, and I watched the video you linked on this post. Kinda offensive if you ask me!! And super lame-o.
p.s. my sisters in law would KILL me if they heard me talkin like this. They are IN LOVE with JF.

I'm sorry if my FB status made this all happen. I really didn't mean for it to go far or for anyone to get upset.
Sorry again. It's just a game. I know my place in my faith and my religion, I don't worship JF. I admire him as a bball player and as a player for the school that I went to. It is pretty fun to have that.
Anyway, I'm sorry again Mindy.

hahaha that is the best reason I ever heard for de-activating a FB account. It really is out of control. I just block certain people right now.
