Sometimes ...

there are those people that just need to be kicked. You have all met someone like that, right? For one reason or another they.just.need.to.be.kicked.

I know someone like that.

So I put up this ad onto Craiglist.

I hope I have a taker soon. I certainly need one.

To whom it may concern: I still want my hair pins and pink Tupperware back.

So, hey ... I moved.

Soo, once upon a time I moved out of my apartment into an adorable little house.

The process of this move was quite interesting {and perhaps long and boring, so 10 gold stars if you stick with me}. I began toying with the idea of moving in early December. I knew I wanted to sell my contract and move into this house with one of my BFs, Jill. A room had just became available and I figured it was my room to live in. At that time the reasons for moving felt pretty selfish {I simply wanted to keep my sanity}. What made it even more intriguing to me was that even though my reason was selfish, it still felt like it was right. And in my mind selfish was never equivalents to right.

When week after week went by with no real bites, I began to question the rightness I felt about the move. I was about to accept defeat of my contract not selling and the fact that I wasn't going to move.
But on January 1st I found out what I knew was the real reason for the wheels of my move to begin motion weeks before ... BF Jill's mom passed away unexpectedly. I knew that the room opened for me to move in to help her during this time and I knew my contract would sell even though I hadn't had any real interest in it for about a month. And as it would work out, three days later the contract sold and I began the moving process.

Said moving process was a little complicated. Since I am a big person now, I own living room furniture, kitchen furniture, and bedroom furniture. In fact, when I left my apartment I left them with nothing. No furniture. Zilch. Zero. Nada. None. Oops. :)

Annnd, can you guess who helped me move all of said furniture?

BFF may or may not have spent over seven hours on three separate occasions {this occasion he was actually helping me get rid of extra dumpy furniture that was in the house so my furniture could fit} helping me move everything. He is so good to me! Although, I did buy him fried pickles for his assistance, which is clearly worth all the work he did. In fact, maybe he is now in my debt!

Anywho ... Let's talk about my cute little house! I love the way my cute table and chairs look in the kitchen with the red walls!

This is my favorite part of the entire house. Every time I walk into my room I see this and am just so happy!

I also love that my window overlooks out backyard {obsessed with backyards}.

You can't really see it, but frost was frozen on the branches outside and it just looked so pretty. I heart my room.

There are two downsides to this little house.

One: no dishwasher. So for the first time since I was like seven, I have to do dishes by hand. And ...

Photoed doorknob is crasy. You have to turn it right to open it {you may not know this peeps, but you naturally turn doorknobs left to open, but not this baby}. But I guess if those are the only two downsides, then my house ain't too shabby, eh? :) Oh, there is a creepy basement with a really creepy door. I don't dare open said creepy door. If I was to guess what was behind the door I would guess skeletons or ghostly spirits. It's just that kind of door. Maybe we can discuss this more later. :)

500 gold stars at stake.

I want super cute argyle or plaid tights! [Preferrably black without grey ... Maybe like black and tan ... Picky, you bet. But 500 gold stars are at stake, so get over it.]

Where? Where can I find some? Help! Please. And thank you! :)

I think I am going to like my new roommates. A lot.

I told them about all my past indiscretions, primarily dealing with with fish [a future blog may or may not appear elaborating on these indiscretions ... 10 gold stars if you already know that they are]. As a result of my indiscretions ... They bought this little guy ...

Kari, Kyle, and the fish.

And made my table decorations into his home ...

And they made a documentary on it ...

How perfectly fantastic. Except for the fact that I now own a fish, which I think I want to name It ... And I have to see it when I eat. I kinda, sorta, really hope that he dies soon. Which is very likely considering I had glittery Christmas bulbs in the table decorations and they are now in the water and It is trying to eat them. Oh, well.

Bring Mia Home ...

A friend of mine posted on her blog about this cute little girl, Mia.

She has been adopted by an American family, but due to the US being stingy on getting her a visa, even though she was legally adopted in 2008, she is still in Haiti while her new family is here.

Unfortunately, Mia's story is not uncommon. There are hundreds of children in Haiti who have been adopted by loving families in the United States but still remain in orphanages. At this point, the process of getting these children to the US is taking years.

Please go to this online petition to help brings these children home to their families.

After you sign your name on the first page it will take you to a second page that will ask for a donation. You do not need to donate. You can close the page at that point and your name will have already been put onto the petition..

Please spread the word.

For more information on Mia and her family go here.

100 gold stars to anyone who correctly identifies what is in this picture ... Look closely. A little creepy, no? Good luck. :)

P.s. I am at a loss of what to blog about next. Any suggestions? 100 gold stars if I like your idea and blog about it. 10 just for any suggestion at all. Also, you get that the title of this post is like the creepy, scarey OoooOOooooh noise, right? :)

My job ...

There are some moments at my job where I think, "Really? This is my job? People would never believe this. People would never believe that people have to do this." Whether it be changing an adult diaper or cleaning smeared feces off walls ... There are these moments every now and again that I just don't think people can comprehend unless they experience it themselves.

I had a moment like that today.

We were short on staff so I got to work directly with a client. One of our most aggressive clients, if not the most. But we get along, he and I. Often times when he sees me his generally absent grin appears and his fists twitch with excitement. I love working with him and was secretly happy that his staff was running late. Extremely late.

On this client's schedule is exercise. When it's cold outside he walks on the treadmill. To briefly describe his feelings on walking on the treadmill: he loathes it.

And I have the pain and wounds to prove it.

I was walking behind him on the treadmill, softly holding his arms down as he continuously tried to scratch and bite me ... Then, in the blink of an eye, he grabbed the side of my head and began ripping my hair out.

Holding his free arm down, and holding his other hand to my head so he couldn't continue to rip my hair out ... And not a single person in sight to help. As the treadmill continued. I knew if I let go of his free hand it'd be on my head too. I knew if I let go of his hand on my head, more hair would come out - or even worse, my earring would be ripped through my earlobe.

I remained calm for about the first five minutes of my fruitless cries for help. It was then that I realized that help might not be coming anytime soon.

Bleeding, chunks of hair stuck to my shirt, with one angry man ... I thought, "Really? This is my job? Really?"

Help did come. After I was released the tears just started coming. I was fine. I was okay. I just didn't know how to stop. :) And I was so amused by the crying that I started laughing. While crying. All the while, the entire left side of my hair totally frizzed out and the right side still in the pony tail.

I only wish I could have seen it for myself. :)

After I pulled the frizzed-out side of my hair back into the pony tail, I found my friend and we went back to the treadmill to finish his schedule.

I am totally exhausted. Scratched. Bruised. And with a scalp that aches. But I still love him. And I still love my job. I will return tomorrow. And hopefully, I'll have time for these wounds and pains to heal before I get more. But I wouldn't count on it. :)

Sigh. All in a days work. I am blessed. I am extremely blessed.

That's all. :)

101 Most Shocking Moments of 2009

  • For anonymity purposes I sometimes refer to a person simply as he or she. Thus, not all the he's or she's are the same person.

  • Also, 10 gold stars for each time you make the list or something on the list relates directly to you. Feel free to argue your case on how an item relates to you in the comment section provided below. :)

  • I tried to put each moment in its proper order, with the absolute most shocking moment as number one and so on ... But it gets really complicated, so they are in the general location of where they should fall. Although, the top 20 are pretty concrete.

  • I had a really difficult time not putting exclamation points at the end of all of these. :) Shocking moments deserve exclamation points, however, over-used exclamation points defeat the purpose of an exclamation point in the first place. :)
